What breed is good for our life style?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Hello Everyone.
My husband and I are thinking about getting a new dog. We want to insure we get the right dog for our life style. We live live in town and have a 50×50 ft back yard. Wwe both work Mon-Fri with time to spare for the pup after work and on the weekends.

We were looking at a beagle/basset hound mix. But was warned that they howl a lot and are hard to potty train. I am fine with training the dog that is part of having a puppy but the howling bit all of the time is no good.

Any information that can be provided would be wonderful. I just want to insure that we pick the right breed of dog for us. I feel too many people rush into getting a dog which inturn can become an ugly situtation for the owner and dog.

Thanks…..

I would advise doing some research on this. There are a lot of other things to take into consideration also. I have a 3 year old pug who I got when he was 6 weeks old. I read about every breed in a dog breed book before deciding on him. My husband said he had to be small and I didn’t want a barker or howler.
Also consider how much exercise/ activity the dog will need and how active you are. Do you want a dog that likes swimming, boats, traveling, etc?

IBC Handbook 2009: Fire- and Life-Safety Provisions

This is the essential resource for anyone seeking an in-depth knowledge of the many fire- and life-safety provisions of the 2009 International Building Code (IBC). Whether youre a student or a building official, an architect or a fire marshal, a plans examiner or an inspector, anyone who uses the IBC will benefit from this guide. Using the many practical examples and the trademark commentary style that made the previous edition so popular, the handbook clearly and deliberately explains the intent, purpose, and application of important code provisions. Coverage includes the nonstructural provisions in Chapters 115 and 2434 of the 2009 IBC, addressing in detail areas such as means of egress, occupancy classification, building height and area, fire protection systems, fire and smoke protectives, mixed occupancies and types of construction requirements. The book also traces the historical background and rationale of code provisions to provide a well-rounded overview, making this one tool that no office should be without.

Abercrombie: Do you buy it because you live the life style or do you buy it to flaunt the moose?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Some people actual live the Abercrombie life style and buy their whole wardrobe there.

But some people buy clothes there just to rock the label or flaunt the moose. (Which I think is perfectly okay)

What do you do?

I personally do find their stuff to be pretty good and fitting my overall style, although I never buy it at full price (they just go too far in their overpricing) or use it in full prep-surfer attire. I personally don’t even understand that whole notion of "A&F Lifestyle." If living such a lifestyle means walking around in destroyed jeans and flip-flops, flaunting a ripped body that I don’t quite have and having a look in my face that screams "I need to get my hands on some Pepto-Bismol NOW!!," then I guess I’ll just pass on it.

The other thing that gets me about this whole thing, although it’s a bit out of context, is that some people just say that they don’t buy from A&F because it’s too preppy or too fake or whatever, and they happily go to other places like Hollister or AE and revel on their "lifestyle," which is basically exactly the same as A&F, only toned down or recast. If you like the whole vibe around this type of clothing, go ahead with it, but don’t hate on some places just because is the popular thing to do. We got enough cynicism and irony in this country as it is…

How have the huge spike in Gasoline and oil affected your life style?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Obviously we all have realized the increase in gas prices which have many primary factors. Oil prices, Oil company profits, inflation, United States relationship over seas, refineries, fuel efficiency… etc… How have all of these impacted your life style

I’m investing in oil ETF’s and grain ETF’s. I’m one of those speculators who are buying oil and food who don’t intend to use it, just hold the product to insure prices go up for my own profit.

I figure as long as I have to buy these items at inflated prices, I might as well get some of my money back.

Is anyone else investing in ETF’s, or stocks like EOM?

Creative Publishing “Garden Style” by Jerri Ferris

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

This is the first entry in an all-new product line that will eventually number a dozen titles or more. The series will focus on ideas and inspiration, but unlike low-end books on home style, this exciting new line of books will feature a more sophisticated look and philosophy to match changing reader demographics, and will also include a large selection of easy-to-accomplish how-to projects. This book series welcomes in the Martha Stewart crowd, but it gives them something Martha simply will never understand-practicality. The books is filled with ingeniously simple decorating ideas and projects-projects that are stylish, functional, and most of all practical. Unlike other ideas books, which tend to be focused on individual rooms, the titles in the series show how to apply the most current, exciting style trends to any and all living spaces. In the Garden Style book, for example, readers will learn how to create this unique ambience outdoors and indoors, in home offices and home theaters, in basement recreation rooms and attic loft bedrooms. Other books of ideas are big with concepts, but they don’t show you how to achieve any of their wonderful ideas. In startling contrast to the norm, these books will not only feature hundreds of great ideas, they will also give readers complete directions for creating dozens of refreshingly easy projects, none requiring more than a few simple steps to accomplish. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Author Jerri Farris and designer Tim Himsel form the creative team behind the books. Together, they have designed and authored Building Garden Ornaments and Fences, Walls & Gates. In addition, Farris has edited several dozen home improvement and gardening titles and Himsel’s creative work can be seen in the book designs of more than 50 home improvement and gardening titles. Jerri Farris lives in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Tim Himsel lives in Savage, Minnesota. ISBN: 1589230078 Author(s): Jerri Ferris Illustrator(s): Tim Himsel – Designer
